Port Antonio Things to Do
Jamaica

Three hours east of Montego Bay in the Parish of Portland is Port Antonio. Nestled between twin harbors on the island's northeast curve, where mist-shrouded mountains drop down to the sea, Port Antonio more than lives up to its reputation as the 'most exquisite port on earth'. The rugged coastline and mountains provide hidden coves and secluded beaches that also make it one of the most romantic setting in Jamaica.

Before the age of jet travel, Port Antonio was the original tourist capital of Jamaica. With its deep water port and lush vegetation Port Antonio was the ideal port for the rich and famous who regularly wintered Jamaica.

Since the 1950s Port Antonio has declined in its importance as a tourist hub as visitors find it more convenient to stay closer to the International airports. This loss of popularity is not matched by the undiminished beauty of the area. Discriminating travelers still find it is worth the trip, and are rewarded by the tranquil, unspoiled beauty of the region.
